Summary / Position Purpose:

Clean all equipment and infrastructure in a thorough and efficient manner, with an emphasis on adhering to Peak Foods safety rules and procedures. Dismantle, inspect, and reassemble equipment as directed. Protect equipment during clean and safely handle all chemicals used in the process. Accurate recording of activities on documents, and the understanding of HACCP, pasteurization, sanitation, allergens, and all food safety programs are required.

Principle Accountabilities:

o Duties and tasks as assigned by Supervisor / Manager

o Follow Standard Cleaning Procedures (SCP) and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) to clean equipment and facility at a microbiological level.

o Follow Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS).

o Comply with all Company policies including, but not limited to, Quality, Safety, Food Safety, Environmental, GMP’s, HAACP, and Attendance.

o Perform duties accurately and on a timely basis in accordance with the published production schedule as well as verbal instruction.

o Understand and follow procedures of the department for use of the department’s equipment.

o Understand and follow Good Manufacturing Practices for the care, handling, and storage of food products; and report any known or observed violations to management. Utilize HACCP philosophy and procedures in everyday work routine.

o Communicate to Management, and support departments as needed.

o Follow and enforce safety procedures.

Experience / Competencies:

o Able to read and comprehend printed and electronic information.

o Know how to operate cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.

o Possess strong attention to detail.

o Able to work with others in a team environment

Other Requirements:

o Safety wear is required, including hairnet hearing protection, safety glasses, steel toe boots, coats, rain suits and other necessary PPE equipment.

o Environmental temperatures range: -20 to 90 degrees.

o Stand on a consistent basis throughout an 8 to 10 hr. shift

o Go up and down steps frequently during shift.

o Moderate lifting (0 to 50 lbs.) required during shift.

Summary:

The Material Handler supports production and warehouse operations by safely and efficiently handling, staging, and transporting raw materials, packaging supplies, and finished goods within a food manufacturing environment. This role ensures accurate inventory levels, maintains proper documentation, and follows all safety and food‑safety regulations

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Material Handling & Production Support

  • Supply production lines with raw materials, ingredients, and packaging components.
  • Remove finished product from production areas and transport to designated storage or shipping areas.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other powered industrial trucks in accordance with safety requirements.
  • Verify material labels, lot numbers, and quantities to ensure accuracy.

Inventory & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate inventory counts using ERP systems, scanners, or manual logs.
  • Perform daily cycle counts and assist with monthly or quarterly inventory audits.
  • Complete paperwork for material movements, waste, returns, and production usage.
  • Report shortages, damaged materials, or quality issues to shift supervision.

Food Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), allergen controls, and sanitation requirements.
  • Ensure materials are stored and handled according to food‑safety standards (temperature, rotation, segregation).
  • Practice FIFO or FEFO inventory rotation as required.
  • Support internal and external audits through proper record‑keeping and compliance.

Equipment & Facility Support

  • Inspect forklifts and equipment daily and report maintenance needs.
  • Assist in staging materials for upcoming production runs.
  • Help maintain warehouse organization, cleanliness, and 5S standards

Qualifications and Skills:

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–2 years of material handling, warehouse, or manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other industrial trucks (certification preferred or company‑provided).
  • Basic computer or scanner skills for inventory entry.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work in cold, dry, or humid environments as needed.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as: Food Safety procedures, Safety procedures, and understand requirements as set forth through Quality Control guidelines.
  • Must have the ability to interface with equipment, and inventory control systems.
  • Must be able to work with a high degree of accuracy
  • Must be able to work cross functionality with Production

Preferred

  • Experience in food manufacturing, beverage manufacturing, or other regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with GMPs, HACCP, and allergen control programs.
  • Experience using ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, etc.)

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Noise level above 80 decibels – hearing protecting required
  • Lift up to 40 LBS
  • Steel toed, non-slip shoes required
  • Environmental temperatures range: 45 to 90 degrees, brief periods in the freezer @ -10 may be required with appropriate artic wear
  • Stand, walk, and/or climb on a consistent basis throughout an 8 to 10 hr. shift
  • May be required to work Overtime as needed

Must be able to work in a cold environment. Ability to move trailers throughout the yard using a “yard tractor” a plus.

Must pass pre-employment drug screening and have a valid drivers license.

  • Responsible for food safety, pre-requisite programs and food quality related to designated area. This includes both document review and trailer inspection prior to loading and unloading any finished product, ingredient or other raw material in the facility.
  • Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible and accurate format, and completed with required information in accordance with SOP’s.
  • Ensure the all allergenic food ingredients are properly marked and segregated.
  • Rotate raw materials and finished goods using FIFO (First In – First Out).
  • Stage materials for production in sequence with production schedule.
  • Perform all work in a safe manner using required PPE.
